Mid-range Samsung Galaxy A23 released with Android 12, 50MP camera

Samsung Galaxy A23 teaser

Samsung Bangladesh brings its new mid-range smartphone Galaxy A23 into the market. There is only the 6/128 GB model available which is priced at ৳25,599.

The design is identical to other modern Samsung A series smartphones. There is no punch-hole, instead we have the traditional waterdrop-notch in the front. There is a big 6.6 inches Full HD+ display protected by a 5th gen. Gorilla Glass. But surprisingly, we do not have an AMOLED display here, instead there is the regular PLS TFT technology. It is surprising because most other recent Samsung mid-range and low-mid range phones were coming with AMOLED panel. So, it is a disadvantage here.

We have a fairly decent 50MP main back camera with OIS, a 5 MP ultrawide lens, 2MP macro and 2 MP depth sensor. There is 4K video recording as well. Overall, it’s a pretty fine camera for the price. The 8 Mp front camera could be a little better though.

We have Android 12 and this is great. The 5000 mAh battery has 25W fast charging. There is a Snapdragon 680 chipset so battery performance would be better than you may expect. However, it is not a fine mid-range chipset. In fact, Snapdragon 680 is more of a low-mid range chipset. If you go to nanoreview and compare it with MediaTek’s Helio G96 used in Vivo V23e, which is priced similar to Galaxy A23, you will see Helio G96 performs much better in terms of CPU and Gaming. We also have the Snapdragon 732G used in Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro, which is even more powerful. So, in terms of performance, Samsung is quite behind here. In fact, considering the overall specification, Galaxy A23 is quite overpriced in current competition.
