Symphony Z42: The first Z series disappointment after quite a while

Symphony Z42 teaser

Symphony Bangladesh released its new Z series phone Symphony Z42. The phone is priced at ৳9,599 and is available in Black and so-called Honey Dew Green colors.

So, firstly let us clarify why we find this device a disappointment from Symphony? The gadget is using MediaTek’s Helio A20 chipset with a quad-core CPU. This is very unexpected and not a good performance phone by any means. It is unsuitable for gaming, multitasking, or long-term usage. The question is can you expect better performance at this cost? The answer is, yes and Symphony is a fine example of it themselves. Look at Symphony Z45 priced at 10,190. It comes with a Unisoc T610 chipset and octa-core CPU and with 4 GB RAM. It is way more powerful in terms of performance, so much so that there is no comparison at all, and for just about ৳600 more investment. Or let us look at the Symphony Z33 for ৳8,990. It also comes with a Unisoc T610 chipset and 3 GB RAM. It’s a better phone at a lower price from the same brand which is kind of ironic.

On the positive side, Symphony Z42 has kind of an iPhone-like design on the back as well as a glass panel. But it in no way covers up the significant lack in performance. We have a fine front and back camera considering the price, there is a bog 5000 mAh battery, HD+ display, Android 11, and so on. It could be a nice phone, but the chipset, CPU, and the performance altogether are the heart of a phone so we couldn’t give it a good mark.
