This review was written after well-analyzing its features as well as evaluating hands-on video reviews by trustworthy reviewers from the industry.
First of all, we are none of those long-time Apple product enthusiasts with a lot of attachment to the iPhones and their features. But we have been in the phone industry for a very long time so, we take this opportunity to go into the detail of what we call “finally a complete iPhone”. Yes, this is the one for us, Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max.
When the iPhone 3G came in 2008, we were among the fortunate to check it out. Then we saw the famous 4 series, the cheap iPhone 5C, The Notch in iPhone X, the stunning cinematic mode of the iPhone 13 Pro series and now the iPhone 15 Pro series where we see a device that has matured in all of its aspects. It’s not about the Yoy updates for us. If you compare that, you may not find way too many updates here. It’s really about whether you should finally buy an Apple iPhone.
Design and Build
All reviewers will tell you that this new model is much lighter (about 10% lighter than its predecessor) and much more comfortable to hold. The edges are well-brushed, smooth and rounded and of course, you now feel the more premium titanium instead of the old stainless steel. It also attracts much less visible fingerprints on the frame. There is a smaller bezel which makes it a bit more compact as well. On the outside, you may not find too much of a design change though.
Display
The display remains almost the same. It’s still great as expected. It’s one of the best mobile displays out there and since it’s almost the same as last year, we are not going into details about it.
The Action Button

It’s such a cool little thing that we created an extra section just for this. The mute button is now gone and you’ll get this so-called “action button”. It’s more clicky with a vibration motor inside which gives a nice intuitive feeling. You can add a variety of different shortcuts (almost anything) and organize them nicely, get creative with it which is highly convenient for tech or mobile geeks who like to use their phones for all sorts of day-to-day purposes.
Camera
We see a slight improvement in the camera in overall color tone, sharpness and brightness. There is more balance, and more naturalistic output in terms of details. What we call “blunt softness” has increased but with a bit of brightness. This is remarkable because that tends to reduce the brightness and makes the skin tones look artificial. But there is no such tendency here. This is both for the daytime and for nighttime shots. We really liked the camera this time and it’s mostly because of the software update. But there is also a 24 MP mode along with the standard 12 MP mode which increases the sharpness and details. There is also a 5x optical Zoom telephoto lens now which was up to 3x optical zoom last year. The portrait mode has a manual blur feature where you can edit a photo to choose your preferred subject to blur. You can also create blur manually if you look a regular shot without any blur at all.
And the cinematic mode in video recording. It came out a couple of years ago already. It has been “polished” further as well. You can shoot real movies with your mobile. No need to carry those big cameras and tools around. It may not be believable to you and you may feel uncomfortable relying on just a phone to shoot professional movies. But it does enable you to do so. The lens flare is reduced by much which is a great relief. The stabilization or the built-in gimble technology has also improved for 4K shooting.
Battery
The battery life of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is better than both the 13 and 14 series. But the 15 Plus model has the best battery life so far and the Pro Max comes in second position. In a battery test review, the 14 Pro Max gave 10 hours and 54 minutes of regular usage whereas the 15 Pro Max gave 11 hours and 41 minutes for the same usage. That’s almost one hour of extra battery life which is pretty impressive. The 15 Plus model however gave a usage time of 13 hours and 19 minutes, far exceeding all other iPhone models so far and has one of the best smartphone batteries out there. Here to mention that the screen on time will be lower or higher based on what you use. Using the camera app or gaming a lot will of course give you much less SOT. Other than that, the regular Qi/Magsafe wireless charging and the reverse charging (4.5W) facilities are also there.
Performance

Here we got super excited because now we are getting a 3 nm Apple A17 Pro chipset. A 3nm chipset?! What can it do? Well, now you can play games that you were only able to play on gaming consoles till now. Games like Resident Evil Village and a remake of Resident Evil 4 are coming to the mobile platform because of this chipset. The details of the graphics looked stunning, vibrant and lively. Now, that’s real gaming and if you are a dedicated mobile or small-screen gamer, the high time has arrived.
The A17 Pro gets a Geekbench score of 7259 inside the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The previous 14 Pro Max had a score of 6786 with the A16 Bionic chipset. That’s a lot of improvement and it is the fastest smartphone chipset as of today.
Does it heat up?
Yes, you’ll feel some heat if you play the game for a longer time. The back part is made of corning made glass so, that has an effect on the heating. But it’s nothing serious and you can just pause for a bit after a while to let it cool down and cool yourself down as well which is healthy.
Storage
We finally have USB Type-C which we all appreciate and now it is giving you 10 GBps file transfer speed. That’s insane. You can also connect an external hard drive to the phone and see all the folders in the phone like your computer and transfer the files which we find to be a pretty cool feature.
Sound
Not much has changed in terms of sound. You get the clear, crisp, loud stereo sound like the previous versions.
Others
The Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip is upgraded to second-generation which gives it more precision in trying to find another Apple device nearby. The Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 also have the same new chip so, the connectivity will be better with these devices. The Emergency SOS via Satellite feature is still there. The OS is upgraded to iOS 17. You have 8 GB RAM and up to 1 TB storage options. It is waterproof and 5G supported of course. And with that, we think we covered pretty much everything we wanted to talk about.
