The brand Honor recently entered the official Bangladesh market after a bit of a pause, and we have already received a few fine official releases. The two newest additions to that are the lower budget Honor X5 Plus and the mid-range Honor 90 Lite 5G. X5 Plus model is priced at ৳13,999 (4/64 GB) and the 90 Lite model will cost you ৳31,999 (8/256 GB).
X5 Plus
If we look at the design of the phone, it has an impressive-looking design on the back. Even the waterdrop notch is decent enough. It’s 8.4 mm slim and weighs 188 grams. The consumers are offered a 6.56″ HD+ TFT LCD screen with 90Hz refresh rate and eye-comfort feature. Its body has some kind of toughened drop-proof material. The camera section should satisfy you as well with a 50 MP main primary camera. Although the 5 MP selfie shooter could be a bit better.
We are getting a big 5200 mAh battery with a standard 10W charger. Now, the charger isn’t fitting for the price. Plenty of phones will offer you an 18W charger. It goes worse with the MediaTek Helio G36 chipset, which is simply not acceptable for the price. We could form it in a more diplomatic way, but we don’t have any intention of being politically correct. We are very pleased to see Honor doing business in Bangladesh. But if they want to prosper, they must come with a competitive deal and protect its brand reputation adequately, which we very much want for their case.
That being said, the official market in Bangladesh isn’t an easy one. Honor doesn’t have any assembly factory in the country right now, which means it has to pay a huge amount of tax to import their devices. We think this is an unjust tax policy and is not good for the phone industry as well. But from an average customer point of view, when they can get up to a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM for the same price in the official market (take the Xiaomi Redmi 12C for example), why should they choose Honor X5 Plus? The Helio G36 has a Nanoreview gaming score of 5 out of 100, and the G85 has a score of 13 out 100. That’s a tremendous difference. And we are talking just about the official market. In the unofficial market you’ll get up to a Helio G99 chipset. But we still consider Honor to be a highly valuable brand, and they have presented some fine releases in the higher price segment. So, they are well-capable of doing it for the lower budget buyers in the future as well.
90 Lite 5G
The first benefit of this smartphone is that it has 5G support and there aren’t many 5G devices right now in the official market around this cost. The design looks very elegant. It’s just 7.5mm slim, has TÜV Rheinland certified eye-comfort feature for FHD+ IPS LCD the screen. Its 100 MP back camera quality is pleasant, and we have checked out a few hands-on video reviews. The front camera is also great. But there is no stabilization for video recording, which is a fairly strong disadvantage.
Its 4500 mAh battery may seem low but the optimization is great so you’ll get a good backup. It comes with a standard MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset which is also not any strong gaming chipset. You can expect a similar performance like the Helio G99. Overall, Honor is way behind in the performance section for both gadgets.
