New Xiaomi Poco C65 launched in Malaysia with Helio G85, attractive pricing

Xiaomi Poco C65 teaser

Xiaomi just launched the new Poco C65 in Malaysia with very attractive pricing, which should soon arrive in a few other markets as well. It is launched with two different versions. 6/128 GB for RM499 (roughly BDT 11,900) and 8/256 GB for RM599 (about BDT 14,300). Both phones are available at a discounted price right now as well, but let’s stick with its official release price for formality.

Xiaomi Poco C65 display

The previous Poco C55 was a successful release among the low-budget consumers. So, the expectation with the newer model is fairly high. We do have a 90Hz refresh rate this time, whereas the C55 had a regular 60Hz refresh rate. The screen protection is changed from Panda Glass to Corning Gorilla Glass. There are also TUV-certifications for reduced blue light (eye-care).

A considerable leap is seen in the camera section. We see an 8 MP f/2.0 aperture selfie shooter with a ring-light feature for enhanced quality in low-light conditions. The C55 had a very average 5 MP shooter. The back camera remains 50 MP, but a 2 MP macro lens is added, replacing the 0.08 MP depth sensor. We are also seeing a side-mounted fingerprint sensor instead of a rear-mounted one in the previous generation.

Xiaomi Poco C65 chipset

A great relief is the new 18W fast charging replacing the 10W charging. But hold on there. You are getting a 10W charger in the box and that’s just plain inconvenient. Even if you buy an 18W charger, you are wasting that 10W charger. So, we’d say either give the 18W charger or don’t give any. The chipset remained the same, which is a MediaTek Helio G85, pretty strong given the cost. And now we have 6 and 8 GB RAM options with 128 or 256 GB internal storage variants, replacing the 4/64 GB and 6/128 GB combinations. There is also an added up to 8 GB virtual RAM extension (6 GB virtual for the 6 GB model) option.

Poco C65 water splashes

The phone could be splash-resistant, as we can see from the teaser image by Poco. But there is no official mention of it. So, it probably doesn’t have any certification for it but still is splash resistant. But don’t take our word for granted and recheck it with the seller. There is MIUI 14 for Poco on top of Android 13, replacing Android 12 version of the Poco C55.
