Realme GT Neo 5: is it the best all-rounder around BDT 40,000?

Realme GT Neo 5 teaser

Let us first tell you that the unofficial price of Realme GT Neo 5 in Bangladesh right now starts from around BDT 43,500. So, this is slightly higher than BDT 40,000 but not that much and the price usually goes down with time so, it’s not unfair so say around 40,000 Taka budget. But depending on the currency exchange rate, sometimes prices go up as well. The cost was much higher a few months ago, and this was first released in February 2023 so, it’s not the freshest smartphone anymore. But since the cost is much lower now and also stable, it came to the attention of many. We are one of them, so we are evaluating this device today and see whether you should pick this or not.

The first thing that will catch your attention is its RGB pulse light at the right side of the primary camera. That entire area has a transparent finish that looks futuristic. The light illuminates while charging, incoming calls, etc. The purple color variant has double stripes in addition to that, and this one is our personal favorite. Purple is also the color of nobility in case you didn’t know that. Design wise, it is very, very attractive. The screen on the front has a grand feeling. However, the body material isn’t that top-grade. The back part is perhaps made of plastic according to some reviewers, although it gives a bit of a glass feeling. There is no official info about it, but it’s definitely not very durable. There is also no info about a screen protection or any kind of dust and splash resistance. So, if you value solid build quality, you can already skip it and save your time. But if you think you can buy a screen protection, back cover and so on for a phone packed with strong features, then read on.

The screen is of a proper standard with a 1240 x 2772 pixels resolution and HDR10+ support. It’s 6.74” large and offers 144Hz refresh rate. You can’t really complain that much here. The cameras are overall fine. One issue is that they provide a slightly higher warm tone and color boost. We personally don’t like it and prefer more natural, authentic look with tons of details. But the night mode here can capture a lot of light. You also have gyro-EIS for up to 4K@60fps video recording quality with the primary cam, which is very rare. So, it has some positives and negatives. But you can live with it.

So, the 150 watt charger variant has 5000 mAh battery, and the charging takes about 20 minutes. The 240W variant has 4600 mAh battery and the charging time is about 12 minutes. If you ask us, we’ll take the 150W model because the charging time difference is very little and the higher battery backup is more important for day-to-day usage. It also costs less. Then we got a 4 nm flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset with a Nanoreview gaming score of 94 out of 100. It is also the 10th most efficient chipsets of the world as per their review (as of December 24, 2023). So, no doubt, this is one of the best smartphones regarding performance at this price. Its sound system is brilliant with Hi-Res audio and dual-stereo speakers. Do we suggest it? Definitely. And at this moment, it doesn’t seem to have a good enough competitor. So, go for it if it satisfies you enough.
