The brand ZTE is known for bringing extraordinary design to the smartphone market for a fairly long time. Not just that, their network capability, performance, camera, software etc. often catch the attention of the consumers. As the year 2023 is ending, the brand decided to unveil a final surprise. Yes, we are talking about the all-new ZTE nubia Z60 Ultra. The phone is already announced and is expected to be available from December 29 for purchase. It will go on sale in China as well as in Europe, USA, Mexico, UK and so on. So, first let’s have a look at its prices.
China:
CNY 4,299 (BDT 66,400) 12/256 GB
CNY 4,699 (BDT 72,600) 16/512 GB
CNY 5,299 (BDT 81,800) 16GB/1TB
CNY 5,999 (BDT 92,600) 24GB/1TB
Other countries:
8/256 GB – $599 / €679 / £679 / Mex$ 12,499
12/256 GB – $649 / €749 / £749 / Mex$ 13,499
16/512GB – $779 / €899 / £899 / Mex$ 14,999
As you can see from the above info, the price in China and in the US is very similar. In other markets, it’s going to cost more. But let’s stay with the Chinese price here since ZTE is a Chinese brand, the unofficial variant in Bangladesh should enter from there as well, at least for the most part. We can see that they kept the price on hold. It’s reasonably affordable compared to Apple or Samsung flagships. Now, let’s check out its configuration.
The design is no less than mind-boggling. We have black, silver and a special edition of blue color. If you are into abstract digital art, the last one will be more suitable for you. The other colors have a professional touch. Now, let’s look at the camera module at the back. That’s a unique setup, but not exaggerating at the same time. This kind of innovation requires a lot of artistic skill, precision and concentration. So, let’s give ZTE a big thumbs up for that. It looks almost like a proper digital camera of good value. On the front we have a symmetrical, boxy shaped screen without any visible bezel at any side. The screen-to-body ratio is 89.1%. It looks pretty futuristic.
The screen has a very large 6.8-inch size which is almost like a mini Tab. It will still fit in one hand, but smaller hands may struggle a bit. However, gaming, content watching, and net browsing will be an absolute joy with this gadget. Bad news is that it’s a Full HD screen and not Quad HD and we are missing QHD resolution big time here. Nevertheless, we got HDR10+, 1 billion color support, an AMOLED panel and 1500 nits peak brightness, which is a satisfactory spec. Still, we can’t compare it to a flagship screen. On the bright side, the body is IP68 rated waterproof.
The rear camera has three lenses. A primary 50 MP lens with f/1.6 aperture, laser autofocus, optical image stabilization and a fine Sony IMX800 sensor. The second one is a 64 MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.3x optical zoom, OIS and OmniVision OV64B sensor. The final one is a 50 MP 100º ultrawide lens with OIS as well. Its video recording capacity is up to 8K resolution with HDR10+. It has 10-bit video and also stabilization but we are not sure if the EIS is available till 4K or also with 8K quality. There is a ring-LED flash as an added cool feature.
The front camera in the Chinese model is 16 MP and the other global models are getting a 12 MP shooter. You may wonder, wait, where is the camera? We don’t see it in the picture. There is no notch or punch-hole, etc. It is creatively placed at the bottom side of the screen, like you’d use an in-display fingerprint sensor. It’s not just stylish, you’re also getting an uninterrupted immersive view because of that. The video quality is a maximum of 1080p@30fps. We have already seen photo samples from both cameras. The truth is that these are no flagship cameras despite the design and all the technical specs. Having said that, they are still great for the budget. You are getting a legit telephoto lens, a strong 50 MP ultrawide camera, 8K recording and so on.
The phone packs a huge 6000 mAh battery and provides an 80W charger in the box. We got MyOS 14 UI on top of the latest Android 14. The chipset is also the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. You can’t really criticize its performance at any level. There is up to 24 Gb RAM, blazing fast UFS 4.0 storage (up to 1 TB) and 5G connectivity. So, top-grade graphics-intensive games should run butter smoothly. The audio quality is excellent in this device as well.
