Bangladesh Telecommunication Department unjustly threatens to deactivate all unofficial mobile phones

Unofficial mobile phone Bangladesh

An announcement was made from the Bangladesh Telecommunication department to deactivate all unofficial / unregistered smartphones. These phones will not be able to connect to mobile operators. These phones have been entering the Bangladeshi market legally and are being sold legally as well. Now, how can the government make an announcement out of the blue to deactivate them? Did they not think about how big of a financial loss the business owners and the consumers will make if such a step is taken? This is a by all means a very irresponsible announcement and does not respect the finance, belonging and livelihood of the people of Bangladesh.

This announcement itself by the Telecommunication department is illegal according to the Bangladesh constitution, which does not allow a legally sold or imported product to announce as illegal after the products are already imported or purchased by the people of Bangladesh. If such a step is taken by the Telecommunication department, we call the lawyers to sue the Telecommunication department.

The Telecommunication Department of Bangladesh took no step so far against the rising price of the locally assembled official smartphones from some brands that are being sold, sometimes almost double the price of the global market. Now, this is something that the government is supposed to consider illegal and fine these brands. The people of Bangladesh should boycott these devices by all means. And if the unofficial phones are banned and the people are forced to buy locally made phones only at a ridiculous price, the people should boycott buying new phones altogether. Then we will see how the government gets tax or the companies sell their products.

Mobiledokan.com was one of the very few online portals to show only official prices of mobile phones for a very long time, despite losing a lot of visitors who look for unofficial devices. But unofficial devices were being sold abundantly and legally, so people were losing interest in our info portal. Then many of the official brands started to increase the price for Bangladesh and also release older outdated models when people are most interested in the latest gadgets. So, we decided to do the right thing and bring back the unofficial devices, because we want the people of Bangladesh to have access to the best of technology at the best price.

And this is a message to the Telecommunication department of Bangladesh from mobiledokan.com:

We will not accept if the consumers of Bangladesh are offered inferior quality locally assembled mobile phones at a much higher price than the global market and the government takes no step against it and thinks only about getting tax. We will openly call people to boycott unjustly priced official phones if this happens. And if mobiledokan.com is forced to show only official products, we will not offer our service to the people of Bangladesh.
