Samsung introduces its first under ৳40,000 5G smartphone in Bangladesh which is the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G. The device is priced at ৳37,599 for the 8/128 GB model.
On the surface, it looks like one of those typical modern Samsung A series smartphones. It is just 8.1 mm thin and weighs 186 grams. The screen is protected by a Gorilla Glass 5 and the body is waterproof. The display is a 90Hz Full HD+ AMOLED one. So, in terms of design, display and build quality, it is quite satisfactory we can say.
In terms of connectivity, we have 5G support, which is great. FM Radio is unspecified and there is no 3.5mm jack so you will need Bluetooth earphones if you have to use one. There is NFC and we have a Hybrid dual SIM so, there is no dedicated MicroSD slot. So, we can see that there are some compromises in the connectivity area to house the 5G technology.
The cameras aren’t very impressive but we have OIS and 4K video recording in the back camera which is some fine plus points. But overall we expected a little better camera. The same goes with the 25W fast charging. We would expect at least a 33W fast charger for the price. There is Android 12 and a Exynos 1280 (5 nm) chipset which is somewhat similar to the MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G chipset which is used in phones like OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G that is priced closer to the Galaxy A33 5G. But when compared to the Snapdragon 778G 5G, Exynos 1280 is quite behind. Snapdragon 778G is used in Realme GT Master Edition (priced at ৳33,990) and Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE (starting from ৳35,999) which are some of the best performance phones with 5G support at a lower price at the moment.
Overall, Galaxy A33 5G is still a great phone, but if performance is the key factor, we would suggest checking out some phones from Realme, Xiaomi, and OnePlus.
