Xiaomi Redmi K70 series is official in China. There are three smartphones in this series: Xiaomi Redmi K70 Pro, Redmi K70 and Redmi K70E. These are some top spotlight releases, especially for dedicated mobile gamers and flagship-killer performance seekers. The previous Redmi K60 phones were very successful in the market so, the expectation was pretty high for the new ones. Was Xiaomi able to stay on top of the game? Let us figure this out in this article.
Redmi K70 Pro
Let’s start with the premium pro model. The pricing are following:
3299 元 (BDT 51,300) 12/256 GB
3599 元 (BDT 56,000 ) 16/256 GB
3899 元 (BDT 60,700) 16/512 GB
4399 元 (BDT 68,500) 24GB/1TB
The K lineup is usually available exclusively for the Chinese market. So, if you want to grab a piece of it, you’ll have to go for a Chinese import. But look at their prices. Xiaomi surely didn’t disappoint in terms of that and we are, of course, saying it after assessing its technical specifications. But the outlook is also important, and well, it remains quite ordinary. Performance phones are not meant to be one of those fancy luxury types, but they don’t necessarily have to be that flat either. It has a contemporary feel, it’s robust, well-crafted. But it’s pretty flat abstract and there is no denying of that.
But when we look at the screen, all grief (if any) perishes. Xiaomi sort of checked every desired and necessary feature. OLED panel, 120Hz refresh rate, 68B colors, Dolby Vision, HDR10+. But wait a moment. 1440 x 3200 pixels max resolution and a crazy 4000 nits peak brightness are added too. So, it’s not just about the performance now. It’s also the screen. But how about the camera? A 50 MP main lens, 50 MP telephoto and a 12 MP ultrawide setup on the back fulfilled our expectations more than enough. We have OIS, 2x optical zoom and up to 8K recording. Front camera is its major drawback without any question. We don’t see a 16 MP setup with max. Full HD (1080p) video recording as a suitable option for a device like this. It still has HDR and is somewhat valid.
5000 mAh capacity with G1 battery management for longer and sustainable battery life is included. There is a P2 charging chip for the 120W charger for improved power management. A full charge takes about 18 minutes. Now the chipset. Yes, it’s the latest 4 nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 combined with the latest Android 14 and Xiaomi HyperOS UI with up to 24 Gb RAM variant. To put it simply, in the current standard, you shouldn’t worry about gaming and performance at least for the next three to four years. There is the latest Wi-Fi7 and 5G support. We got stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Redmi K70
Let’s jump to the pricing of the next one, which is the K70 model.
2499 元 (BDT 38,900) 12/256 GB
2699 元 (BDT 42,000) 16/256 GB
2999 元 (BDT 46,700) 16/512 GB
3399 元 (BDT 52,900) 16GB/1TB
So, what has changed compared to the pro model? The first to mention is the chipset. We got the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Even though the difference between 8 Gen 3 and the Gen 2 aren’t that huge, we are missing the latest here. But still, given the price, this is a huge win. We are not having any 24 GB RAM model here as well.
Then the rear camera is downgraded significantly. The 50 MP telephoto lens is gone and is replaced with a 2 MP no-use macro camera. No-use because we don’t expect such a low-grade lens in a device like this. The 12 MP ultrawide lens is downgraded to 8 MP. There is still OIS and the 8K recording option. But if photography is one of your core priorities, we won’t recommend this. It is usable, and the quality isn’t as bad as it sounds, but there are better options out there.
But surprise, surprise, that’s about it. Everything else remains more or less the same as the Pro model. The same dimension, screen, battery, software, audio, connective and main sensors.
Redmi K70E
It gets a bit tricky in this case. We are going to explain it in a moment. Let’s check the price first:
1999 元 (BDT 31,100) 12/256 GB
2199 元 (BDT 34,200) 12/512 GB
2599 元 (BDT 40,500) 16GB/1TB
Ok, so, the E probably stands for economic model as it’s priced lower. The design remains very identical, but we are observing significant changes in many other areas. Well, it still has the latest Android 14 and Xiaomi HyperOS which is of tremendous benefit at this point for a low-budget phone. We are having the same blazing fast UFS 4.0 storage as well. It is slightly thinner and lighter. The screen resolution is reduced to 1220 x 2712 pixels and the peak brightness is 1800 nits. But we still have the same screen size and other premium features.
The camera is completely different here. There is a 64+8+2 MP primary camera with maximum 4K recording. The front camera, however, remains the same. The chipset is different though so, the photo processing will not be the same. It uses a 4 nm build MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra chipset which is slightly behind but still a top-grade, close to flagship-level chipset. This is a winner for the cost. The battery used is a bigger 5500 mAh one but the power management isn’t the same, so we don’t know if you are getting a longer backup or similar. The 90W charger here takes 34 minutes to fully charge, which is about 15 minutes longer than the other two, but not a big deal.
