Tecno’s new Spark series handset Tecno Spark 20 Pro is announced in the Philippines. The device is also listed in Tecno Mobile’s global website. The price in the Philippines is set to PHP 8,999 (BDT 17,900 / $161). It is available in the Shopee online marketplace for a discounted release price of PHP 7,499 (BDT 14,900 / $135). The phone has a single 8/256 GB model and is available in four different colors: Moonlit Black, Frosty Ivory, Sunset Blush and Magic Skin 2.0 Green.
Tecno Spark 10 Pro has been an immense success here in the Bangladeshi market. We can assume it’s the case for many other markets as well. Spark 10 Pro is one of the first official smartphones in Bangladesh to offer a complete package under 15K price in recent times. But there were a few lacking, such as a lower 4 GB RAM. There is also an 8 GB RAM model which is priced a bit higher. But in the new Spark 20 Pro, we got a single 8 GB RAM model. There is also an added 8 GB virtual RAM to it. Not only that, the storage is also a larger 256 GB, which was 128 GB for the case of its predecessor.
But why have we called this a near perfect lower-budget smartphone at the moment? Let’s start with the design. The Moonlit Black color has a bit of a frosted texture to it. Although the body is made of plastic, it has a glass-like feeling. This one is presenting an elegant, professional look. The next color is Frosty Ivory, which is a kind of whitish, silvery color with pinkish finish. It’s more on the cute, charming side. Then the sunset blush is a gold texture with a similar pink finish. And finally, we have the Magic Skin 2.0 Green color with a bit of a matrix kind of texture with eco-leather material. All of them come with metal edges. They have a popular iPhone-like camera cut and center-punch-hole screen with a Dynamic port similar to the dynamic Island notch. There is IP53 dust and splash resistance but no screen protection, which is perhaps the only drawback.
Speaking of the screen, the phone presents a huge 6.78” FHD+ IPS LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate. There is a fine 91% screen-to-body ratio and Smart Refresh 3.1 feature which balances power consumption.
Tecno is offering a max-grade 108 MP rear camera, 10x zoom, HDR, f/1.75 large aperture, quad-LED flash and up to 2K video recording facility. The front camera is 32 MP with f/2.2 aperture. It has dual-LED flash, warm and cool tones and up to 1080p@30fps recording option. The creative dual video recording option enables you to record with the front and back cameras simultaneously with a divided screen.
In the performance area, we got a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset with 8 GB RAM. This is the best combo for the price at the time of its release. You can’t complain about its performance at all. One thing is that the operating system version is Android 13 and Android 14 was already released a couple of months ago. Although the difference isn’t that huge, we expect this phone to get an Android 14 update and we don’t know at this point if Tecno will provide it or not. The 5000 mAh battery with 33W charging is satisfactory. There is DTS sound with 400% volume and dual stereo speakers. One cool feature is that it has intelligent internet speed improvement, which increases network speed by 25%. Now, you probably understand why we have called it a nearly perfect lower-budget 4G smartphone.
